After photographing hundreds of sessions over the past few years, I've found that it's important that we're a good fit! There are so many styles of photography and types of photographers, so we'll chat and make sure that I'm the one for you!

We’ll get to know one another, talk about your vision for this session, answer any questions you might have about working with me, and set a date!

Location

what to expect...

Once your date is reserved, we'll start chatting about possible locations for your session. I generally recommend choosing one location that has a few different spots within it to give some variety to your photos. If you're not sure about where you would like to take your photos but you have a general idea of the look you would like, I am happy to give you a few ideas of where we can go! I have some locations where I shoot regularly and that are my favorites!

Styling your session

If picking out outfits for photos always leaves you frustrated, you're not alone! Once you've booked with me, I'll send you my exclusive style guide that has lots of great tips and ideas, along with a list of places to shop!

I truly believe that the most important thing though is for you to feel comfortable in what you're wearing, and for the style to be true to who you are.

The session

what to expect...

Regular sessions last around 1 - 1.5 hours. Once you're there, the hard work of preparing is over and you can just relax and have fun with your family! If you're like most people, being in front of the camera can feel awkward and intimidating. But don't worry... my job is to make you and your family look great! I'll mix in some posed shots with lots of candid moments, and I'll give you plenty of direction. After an hour of laughing and playing with your family, I promise you'll walk away with great pictures... and good memories!

Delivery

I try to be as speedy as Amazon and Chick-fil-A when getting your images back to you. Okay, well maybe quite not that fast... because I do spend a lot of time editing your photos to make sure they're stunning! I guarantee them within 3 weeks - but usually you'll have them back much, much sooner! All images are delivered via an online gallery where you can download them immediately. And then you can look forward to getting a fun package with a custom USB in the mail as well!

I believe strongly in getting these images off your computer and into your hands. These pictures aren't just for social media and to collect dust on your computer - they are for YOU!

So all of my collections include printed products that you can feel and touch - prints, canvases, albums and more. And I promise you'll love the quality of professionally printed items.

The pre session consult - we'll either talk on the phone, text, or email (whatever you prefer) - to plan the details of your session!

Custom styling for your family. You'll have access to my style guide, AND to an online styling service so you won't have to stress about what to wear!

The photo session - I can capture your family's moments as fast or as slow as your family decides. I love longer sessions and always allow for 1.5 of daylight so we have enough time to really capture the magical candid moments that only happen when we're not rushed. Or, if your family is done after 40 minutes, we'll stop! (And I guarantee you'll still have plenty of images to choose from!)

Online gallery and mobile app - with at least 40 edited high res digital images. (You'll choose what to do with them in the next step!)

I offer two different collections, starting at $650.

Both include all of the digitals from your online gallery, so you never have to choose just a few.

And both include various print products - from a photo book for your coffee table, to a canvas for your wall.

FILM SESSIONS

All pre session planning. We'll talk in depth about what you're hoping to capture, how you hope this film will make you feel when you watch it back, and specifics about your family and your traditions, so that we can squeeze all of the goodness into your film.

A film session at the location(s) you choose. Sessions range from 2-4 hours - we'll talk about your vision to make sure we have the right amount of time to capture the moments that mean the most to you.

Custom styling for your family. You'll have access to my style guide, and to an online styling service so you won't have to stress about what to wear! (BUT... spoiler alert... these sessions are such a breath of fresh air, because you can wear your normal everyday clothes instead of stuffy photo attire!)

A full length film, set to professionally licensed music - approximately 4-6 minutes. You'll be able to share this online with your friends and family, or even cuddle up on the couch and watch it on your TV at home.

Approximately 20 digital images taken throughout your session to go along with your film. We'll start the session with one posed photo if you'd like. After that, it's ALL candid, real, and natural with no interruptions from me!

Mini Sessions

After you book your session, you'll get a style guide with a ton of ideas and a list of places to shop. But you can also totally find everything you need in your closet. After all - these pictures are for YOU. Not to impress anyone on social media. They're for YOU and your family - so that you won't ever forget this moment in your life. Here's the thing... there's no pause button on life. So pleeease don't put this off. You are beautiful to your children and to your family. And what they'll see in the pictures is the emotion - the joy, the love, the tenderness. That's what matters.

No worries! I watch the forecast before each session, and if it looks like the weather is going to be bad, we'll usually make the decision to reschedule.

Or... if you're the adventurous type, we can grab our rain boots and umbrellas and shoot in the rain! I'll always ask you what you want to do because these are YOUR pictures!

Did I mention I have 9 year old twins? I'm not afraid of a little chaos or a few meltdowns. I have a few tricks up my sleeve to tame your wild ones. Before our session, I'll have you fill out a questionnaire that lets me get to know your children - so I'll know to ask them all about their gymnastics class, or have Baby Shark teed up on my playlist. And if your child is having a rough day, I'll step back, give you guys some space and just capture you snuggling with them. I promise, it will be okay and we will get beautiful pictures of your littles!

A signed contract and a $250 deposit! If we need to reschedule for any reason, that deposit still applies to your new date. However, if you cancel the session altogether, you lose the deposit. This is because once you're on my calendar, I'm turning down other potential clients for that day. My session dates fill up several months in advance, especially in the spring and fall - so it's important to book early to get the date you want!

+ what is required to book a session

Although iPhones take pretty good pictures, you still can't replace professional images. The right equipment and software isn't cheap and needs consistent upgrades. Add in insurance and all of the costs in running a business. I also invest in my own education every year so that I can guarantee you get the best quality work. Photo sessions take many hours to edit, and films take anywhere from 20-30 hours to edit. More importantly, having someone with experience in posing and who can draw out emotion and connection in your images is priceless. It's an investment for sure, and one that I don't take lightly... but I promise it will be worth it.

+ why does it cost so much anyways?

I guarantee photos back in 3 weeks, although I'll usually get them to you much faster. Films are a labor of love and take a lot longer to put together. I guarantee films back within 2 months, although again, you'll usually have it a lot sooner than that. If you absolutely need your photos within a couple of days of your session, just let me know and I can always add a rush order to your collection.

+ when will we get our images / film back?

I get this. I really do. But of all the things you can spend money on, this is one that will last forever. You might pay a housekeeper clean your house - which only lasts for 2 weeks before it needs to be cleaned again. Or you might pay for a nice purse or designer shoes... but they'll eventually end up in the back of your closet or at Goodwill. But I've never regretted money that I've spent on pictures. Because those pictures captured a moment in time for me. Those pictures are in our photo albums and on our walls, and my children love looking at them. And the value of pictures and films increases as time goes by.

Yes! Bring your dog, your cat, your horse, your hamster, your snake... okay maybe not the snake... but yes... bring your animal friends! I've done a ton of sessions that included dogs and horses, and they add so much fun to the session. Plus, they're part of your family too!
